About the Santiam Canyon

The area around Mill City is known as the Santiam Canyon. This area includes parts of Linn and Marion counties and features the scenic North Santiam River. Oregon State Highway 22 and a network of local roads provide access to this beautiful area!

Breitenbush offers an array of outdoor activities including soaking in the natural hot springs.  For golf lovers, Elkhorn Golf Club is just a short drive away.  Mill City is also a quick 20 minute trip to Detroit Lake where boating and swimming abound.  For those more into winter activities Hoodoo Ski Resort is just an hour away.  On your way back through Mill City stop in to warm up, fill up or just relax at any of our wonderful restaurants.  You can choose from pizza at Giovanni's, burgers at Poppa Al's or a steaming coffee, latte or chai tea at Rosie's Mtn. Coffee House. Early birds should try out Mt. Edge Cafe for a breakfast that will keep you running all day.

Picnicking is available at any of Mill City's well maintained parks including Hammond Park, Memorial Wayside Park and our largest, Kimmel Park, which has two covered shelters, a kiddie play area and two play structures.  Both Hammond and Kimmel Park sit along the North Santiam River.  Santiam State Park is available for overnight camping while you explore our picturesque city.
